2023 ULA NOAA JPSS-2 Launch Highlights
Vandenberg Space Force Base, Cal., (January 19, 2023) - United Launch Alliance (ULA) launched the Joint Polar Satellite System-2 (JPSS-2) for NOAA and NASA. JPSS satellites circle the Earth from pole to pole and cross the equator about 14 times daily in the afternoon orbit to provide full global coverage twice a day. In doing so, they provide the majority of data that informs numerical weather forecasting in the U.S. and deliver critical observations during severe weather events like hurricanes and blizzards. JPSS-2 launched on Nov. 10, 2022, just before 2 a.m. PST, on an Atlas V 401 rocket from California's Space Launch Complex-3 at Vandenberg Space Force Base
